《The Downfall of My Dominant Mate》
Chapter 1 Caught On Camera
Amy's POV
I was laughing as I was watching a funny cat video on Facebook. The cat was biting his owner’s finger as the owner pointed it at him while lecturing him about scratching his furniture.
I scrolled to the next video only to see a heartbreaking video. My laughter died down as my heart clenched.
My boyfriend of five years was with another she-wolf as they set off a lantern and it floated up into the sky.
He hugged her and they grinned at each other. I recognised the woman as his best friend, Kelly.
How could William do this to me?
Today was a very special day for me; it was my twentieth birthday which meant that I could meet my mate today.
I hoped that it was William and if he wasn't my mate, I was going to take him as my chosen mate. That was what we had planned.
However, he had used mind link earlier that day to tell me that he had some more training to do, so he would be home late.
I had pleaded with him to come home early, but he insisted that the training was important because our Alpha, Alpha Mason had ordered him and a few chosen warriors to train for a classified mission.
So it was all a lie. It made sense now since I wasn't chosen for the mission even though I was a very skilled warrior.
Kelly was just an omega, so how was she better than me in William’s eyes?
I couldn't tear my eyes away from the video as it played over and over again.
“What are we going to do now?” My wolf, Cara asked me in my head.
“I don't know.” I muttered just as my phone beeped.
“Should I call him?” I asked her as tears started dripping down my cheeks.
I wiped away the tears as she answered me, “Yes, I want to see if we will feel the pull of the mate bond.”
“Even if he is our mate, I wouldn't accept him since he values another more than me.” I muttered as I drew in a deep breath and let it out.
Cara sighed, “If he is our mate, he will come to us.”
I nodded, “Okay, I'll call him.”
I leaned back on the couch as I logged out of Facebook and went to my contacts. Scrolling through my contacts, I saw his name; my future mate.
I felt like crying again as tears pooled in my eyes, but I blinked them away.
I tapped on call and placed the phone against my ear.
He answered on the second ring and I heard his cold voice through the phone, “Amy, what do you want?”
“Are you done with training?” I asked him, feeling repulsed at his cold voice.
He let out a long sigh as if he was irritated by me, “No, I'm still at the pack house and we have a lot of training to do. I might not come home at all today.”
How could he lie to me like that? Was he even the William that I knew?
“But-” I started, but he cut me off.
“But what?! Is your birthday more important than the Alpha's mission?”
“How can you say that?!” I exclaimed as anger bubbled inside my chest.
I couldn't help, but add, “Your mission is just a lie! You're out with Kelly instead of being home with me!”
“Who told you that?” He asked with a hint of surprise in his tone.
I sneered, “If you want to know, check Facebook!”
I didn't wait for his reply and hung up.
“He's not our mate.” Cara muttered in my head.
I felt pain grip my heart as I sighed, “I know. Will I ever have mate?”
Cara comforted me, “Of course. He will come, so don't worry.”
I stared at my birthday cake that was on the center table. I was alone on my birthday.
A small, sarcastic laugh slipped past my lips as I shook my head. I never thought that my birthday would end up like this.
“You've got me, Amy.” Cara reassured me.
I sighed, “I know.”
Fatigue weighed down on me, and I decided to just go to sleep. I was living in my parents house since they passed away, and William lived in the pack house with his parents since they were friends with the Alpha.
You would think that William lived with me because he was always in my house, but that was before Kelly came back into his life a month ago.
The Alpha had transferred her to a neighboring pack, the Dark Moon pack, to become stronger so that she would be promoted to the rank of warrior.
The Dark Moon pack had the best warriors, so that was why he made the transfer.
I made my way to my bedroom, changed into pajamas and climbed into bed.
However, as soon as I did, I heard our Alpha’s voice boom through mind link, “Everyone in the pack should avoid going out tonight since a Rival Wolf Pack attack has been sited at the border of our city. Those that are outside should go back home now!”
“Yes, Alpha!” I answered him along with the other pack members.
I had felt like going out for a run in wolf form to feel better, but I couldn't do so now.
“Just shift into your wolf form, you will feel better.” Cara murmured in my head.
So I shifted into my wolf form and felt like I could finally breathe again. I fell asleep as I wondered if I was ever going to have a mate.

“Open the door for me, Amy.” I heard William’s cold voice in my head.
His voice awakened me from my sleep and that made me groan.
Kelly has been tearing William and I apart since she came back, and he let her.
There was a time that she called him at 4:00am, and even though we were in the middle of sleep, he picked up her call.
She said that she saw a spider in her room and she was too afraid to kill it, so she needed him to do it.
We had a big fight that day.
After the fight, he bought me chocolates which I loved so much, and it made me feel like he loved me, so I easily forgave him.
What would he do now to make it up to me? I wouldn't accept anything from him.
Chapter 2 Anger
Amy's POV
It was already getting dark by the time that I was done with training as a pack warrior. I noticed William as soon as I walked out of the building.
He was a sight for sore eyes. His blue eyes looked even more enchanting as he stared at me; they made his gorgeous face look alluring.
I couldn't bear looking at him, so I ignored him and walked away.
William didn't give up, instead he followed me and stated in a calm voice, “Alpha Mason has requested that everyone attend Kyle’s birthday party.”
Kyle was Alpha Mason's son and the next in line for Alpha. He was also William’s friend and he was slowly becoming my friend too.
I would have kept ignoring William, but since Alpha Mason ordered us to attend, I couldn't ignore him anymore.
I sighed as I muttered, “Alright.”
“Great, get in the car.” He commanded as he gestured towards his black SUV a few feet away from us.
Cara growled in my head at the command. We didn't like to be told what to do. Cara was a very strong wolf which made me the one of the best warriors in our pack. So we were just as dominant as William and his wolf.
I bit back the growl that wanted to come from my throat, “I'm not going with you. I'll take a taxi there.”
“Why? We're mates, aren't we?” He asked as a confused frown fell on his brows.
“You haven't marked me, so don't claim that I am yours.” I gritted out through clenched teeth.
I didn't give him a chance to reply as I started walking away. However, he caught up with me, “But I'll mark you, Amy.”
His words made me pause and turn around to face him, “Really? When?”
His eyes widened in surprise as he stuttered, “I-I-I’m not ready yet, besides, Kelly is back, so I have to spend time with her and-”
I scoffed, “Kelly, Kelly, Kelly! That's all you talk about these days. You must want to mark her and not me! Don't talk to me again!”
I raised my hand, waiting for a taxi to stop, but William grabbed my hand.
I felt his heart beating loudly.
He stared into my eyes with his alluring dark eyes as he murmured, “Do you feel this? This is what I feel for you.”
I pulled my hand away as I glared at him.
“I'm sorry about yesterday, I will make it up to you tonight. I will mark you and you will become my chosen mate.” He added as he continued staring at me.
I shook my head, “I'm done with you, so just let me go.”
“Please let me take you to Kyle's party. He wants us to be together, so he won't be very happy once he finds out that we're fighting.” He pleaded with me.
When he saw that I didn't reply, he added, “Just give me a chance tonight. I will make it up to you.”
I shook my head, “I don't want that.”
“I will change your mind, you will see. Now, let's go back to the car.” He murmured.
I sighed, “Fine, but I'm going with you only for Kyle.”
“Good.” He muttered as we turned around and started towards the car.
After we reached his car, I climbed in as he held the door open for me and he climbed in after me.
It didn't take long before we reached the pack house. Kelly was already there, talking with Kyle at a table for ten. Her eyes widened like saucers as surprise showed in them, but then she narrowed her eyes at me in a glare before glancing at William with a smile on her face.
Kyle grinned when he spotted us, “Will, my man! You've finally arrived, and you're with Amy!”
William replied, “Yeah, man.”
“Happy birthday, Kyle!” I exclaimed as he grinned at me, making me feel better about my day.
“Thanks, Amy.” Kyle replied as he gestured towards the table and added, “Have a seat.”
“Sure.” I replied just as William sat on the chair next to Kelly and that left me to sit beside him since there were only two chairs were available.
There were more of William's friends at the table and I was sure that they didn't want me there. I have always tried impressing them, but not anymore. I was done with William and his snobbish friends.
“Will! I've missed you!” Kelly exclaimed as she held his hand and intertwined it with hers.
William grinned, “We were together all throughout yesterday and this morning. How can you miss me?”
She pouted and answered him, “I want to spend every second with you!”
I felt jealousy and anger fill me as I stared at the two of them. Was I really expecting him to change?
Kyle looked shocked at her words while William grinned as he rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand.
“Kelly, why don't you stop acting like his mate since his mate is here?” Kyle said in a stern voice as he stared at her in disbelief.
“Relax, Kyle. They aren't mates yet, and I'm just saying that as his best friend.” Kelly explained as she grinned wider.
I couldn't help, but speak up, “Well, he said that he's going to mark me tonight.”
“You did?” She asked William as her grin faltered.
“Yes, but I was just trying to make it up to her for yesterday.” He answered her as he frowned.
He sighed as he added, “Actually, Amy, I'm not ready yet.”
Kelly’s grin made its way back to her face, it was like she was trying to show that she had won something valuable. I didn't expect him to go back on his words. How did I even believe him in the first place?
Before I could reply, Kelly quickly said, “Oh, yesterday! It was your birthday, right? I'm so sorry, Amy. I stole your boyfriend on that day and prevented you from getting marked.”
So he told her our plans? I felt even more angry as a growl came from my throat.
Hearing this, Kelly added, “You must be angry. Forgive Will, it's all my fault. Besides, you can't let anger come between you and Will.” She added as she pouted again.
It wasn't anger that was coming between us, it was her. That was what I wanted to say, but I restrained myself.
Chapter 3 Jealousy
Amy's POV
It was obvious that Kelly was trying to act like the victim and make me look bad.
So I muttered, “I’m not angry, I'm just being real.”
“See, you've now made Kelly sad, Amy. Apologize to her.” William said as he turned to me and anger showed in his dark eyes.
Kelly decided to continue her acting as she gave me an apologetic smile, “It's all my fault that you two are fighting. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have called Will to comfort me yesterday. I was just feeling down and needed him by my side.”
Glancing at William, Kelly exclaimed, “Will, you need to say sorry to her.”
William’s jaw clenched in anger as he muttered, “I didn't do anything wrong, so I don't have to say sorry.”
Suddenly, everyone around us fell quiet. It was embarrassing. I almost growled in anger again, but I held back even though Kelly was grinning triumphantly at me.
She wanted to show everyone that he cared about her more than he cared about me.
I forced a smile on my lips, “Of course, you didn't do anything wrong. You only set off floating lanterns into the sky and they were amazing. You should do that more often.”
As soon as I said that, I stood up from my chair and walked away.
“Let’s go for a run.” I muttered to Cara.
“That's a great idea, Amy.” She answered me, her voice sounding sympathetic.
I rushed out of the pack house and started removing my dress, leaving only my expendable tights and tank top.
I stashed my clothes and purse under the bench that was on the patio.
I took in a deep breath and let it out as I started shifting into my wolf form. Running in wolf form always made me feel amazing, especially when it was with all of our pack members, but that only happened on a full moon.
I could feel the night's cool breeze brushing through my fur. I howled as I ran faster.
I saw a werewolf couple rubbing their snouts together as they stood beside each other. That used to be William and I before Kelly came back to our pack.
How did our relationship change so suddenly?
My heart clenched in pain as I thought about William. I drew in a deep breath and let it out as I tried to calm down.
“Calm down, Amy. He's not our mate, so you don't need to worry about him. Why don't we start looking for our mate?” Cara asked in my head as I slowed down.
“I want us to meet our fated mate, but I don't know if my heart can take it if he rejects us.” I muttered as I started shifting back into my human form.
“He won't reject us.” She replied with certainty evident in her voice.
She sighed as she added, “Just believe that and we'll be just fine.”
“Okay, I'll believe in that.” I answered Cara and she howled in my head, making me smile and howl with her.
I didn't want to go back to the pack house to retrieve my clothes and purse, so I decided to come back for them tomorrow.
My phone was in the pocket of my expendable tights, so I wasn't worried.
The sound of music playing caught my attention just as my wolf started shouting in my head, “Mate, mate!”
Several cars passed by us and I realized that was where the music was coming from. As the cars drove away, the music died down.
“Where? Where is our mate, Cara?” I asked her as my heart raced.
Cara let out a longing sigh, “He's gone, I sensed him in one of the cars that were passing by.”
I sighed too, feeling bad that I just missed my mate, “He must be someone from another pack.”
Cara’s voice held a hint of excitement as she muttered, “Yeah, and he must be here for Kyle's birthday party. Maybe we'll see him tomorrow when you go back for your clothes and purse.”
“I hope so.” I answered her as I ran back home in wolf form then shifted back into my human form.
I felt my phone vibrate against my thigh as I walked into my apartment. I pulled it out and checked it to see that it was a text from William.
[Why are you angry?]
I refused to reply, and then another message came through.
[You shouldn't be angry because you've made Kelly sad. You need to comfort her.]
I ignored that message as well, but then my phone started ringing. I saw that it was him, so I ignored it too.
I placed my phone on the bed and walked towards the bathroom.
After I was done showering, I checked Instagram only to see that Kelly has uploaded a picture.
It was a picture of her and William as they sat side by side at their table inside the pack house. She was hugging him and he has his arm wrapped around her shoulders.
She captioned the picture: [I'm happy that you spend every second with me.]
I couldn't hold back the scoff that came from my lips.
I commented: [I'm happy for you two!]
